OneBottle
A unique innovation supporting a climate conscious initiative
The One Movement, a climate startup aiming to remove plastic from the ocean and build housingfor those in need, was looking for a unique water bottle to help promote their cause and raise funds. Although the oversaturated (pun intended) water bottle market is a tricky space to innovate in, I was able to design a modern, minimalist bottle with a multi-functional twist on a carrying strap to stand out in the market.
Ideation
The client had some clear guidelines — they wanted a double-walled stainless steel construction with a modern look and some sort of unique feature or element to help it stand out. Through sketching and experimentation I came up with the idea of a nesting carry strap to provide functionality, while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic when not in use
Prototyping
Using basic materials I built a series of prototypes to test and refine the functionality of the strap design.
Development
Along with the strap, I added some other useful features such as the wide mouth to accomodate ice cubes, and internal threads for a smooth, comfortable drinking surface. On the bottom a TPU pad with a water ripple texture ties in with the brand, and keeps the bottle from scratching surfaces.
With the help of a prototyping shop, some high-fidelity mockups were created to use for shooting content for a crowdfunding campaign.
Final Product
The One Movement successfully launched the OneBottle on Indiegogo, and after some delays caused by the pandemic, the final bottles were manufactured and shipped to backers.
